Burton is a PhD Candidate in the Department of History at Yale University. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in History and Religious Studies from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and an MA and MPhil in History from Yale University. Burton’s research interests are centered on the Spanish church in the early fourteenth century, particularly the archdiocese of Santiago de Compostela.

Burton is a curatorial assistant at the Beinecke Rare Book and Manuscript Library and has been an instructor and administrator of the workshop series “Digital Editing and the Medieval Manuscript Roll” since 2016.
