About the Projects

This website gathers into one place the work done by several groups of researchers associated with the Beinecke Rare Book & Manuscript Library.

The projects together represent a collaborative effort in the study of medieval manuscript rolls and scrolls, and medieval manuscript fragments, along with the digital tools that can help to facilitate this study. You can also find information about these and other Beinecke Early Books projects at earlybooks.org, especially here.

Major projects include:

Graduate Workshop Series (Digital Editing and Manuscript Studies)

Rolls & Scrolls after the Codex

English Manuscript Rolls 1200-1600: A Collaborative Digitization Project

Medieval Manuscript Fragments

In 2019-2020, our major work is the provision of a workshop series, organized and run by graduate students, which uses manuscript artifacts (rolls and fragments) to teach the principles of digital editing, XML, and the TEI schema. For more information about the workshop series, you can contact the organizers at digitalmanuscriptrolls@gmail.com.
